My move turned out to be a bit more of an adventure than I intended, and I still have a lot to do, so I’m afraid it will be a short post today, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mention Blizzard releasing a new trailer, titled “Vengeance,” for Heart of the Swarm.
Let me say upfront that if you don’t want spoilers, do not watch this trailer. Or read the rest of my post, for that matter.
Maybe it’s just the latent stress of the move, but I’m a bit disappointed. I mean, it’s an awesome-looking trailer, but… they just gave away the whole game.
Since it now seems (painfully) obvious that Kerrigan will revert to being the Queen of Blades, I have to wonder what the point of Wings of Liberty was from a narrative perspective, too. We wasted a whole game saving her just so she could right back to being Zerg?
I can only hope there’s a twist somewhere along the way, because that would be very lame.
I see only one sign of hope. There’s a very brief shot in which an uninfested Kerrigan — lacking even her bone dreadlocks — appears to be fighting the infested Kerrigan with a Protoss-style psi blade.
I suspect this is a dream sequence — a symbol of her internal struggle — but it may be an indication that Sarah Kerrigan and the Queen of Blades will be split into two separate beings. That would be an interesting place to take the story, though improbable.
I now have a lot of writing work to catch up on…
